EMILIA WICKSTEAD AW12

Emilia Wickstead presented her AW12 catwalk show for the second time at London Fashion Week on Friday.

Located in her Belgravia Atelier, Emilia brought the collection back home with her renowned chic, feminine style taking centre stage.

Emilia’s signature pleats, billowing skirts and nipped in waistlines for AW12 were inspired by British aristocracy (think Windsor Castle) and countryside weekends spent entertaining at dinner parties and horse riding.

Traditional 18th Century influences were evident throughout and the seasonal print featured horses in paddocks in the most ladylike way possible.

Wickstead’s simple colour palette of nudes and pink contrasted against block colours of black and red to give an unexpected twist.

Elegantly worn with high waisted belts, long gloves, hair swept back to perfection and red hot lips, Emilia has perfectly combined the old with the new to reinvent the modern day woman.

Emilia Wickstead has designed yet another wearable collection that is not only transeasonal but translates to all ages and occasions.

If you’re looking for understated sexy the sheer skirts are beautiful and Emilia also provides a Made-to-Measure service.

We highly recommend visiting the Atelier and making an order before the Duchess of Cambridge makes her own appointment and the exclusive print sells out.

MULBERRY

Monster WILD for AW12

Quarter Style Crisis was eagerly awaiting the start of the Mulberry show this morning at 10am.

Front row included Michelle Williams, Lana del Ray, Michelle Dockery, Olivia Palmero, Pixie Geldof, Laura Carmichael and Elizabeth Olsen…

As the lights went down in an already dark candlelit room, the show opened with two life size monsters at the entrance of the catwalk and David Bowie’s ‘Scary Monsters’ song waking up the crowd.

The Autumn Winter collection takes inspiration from Maurice Sendak’s furry critters in the children’s book Where The Wild Things Are, as well as the film that followed later from Spike Jonze.

Mongolian furs made their entrance first in rich chesnut colours to show off Mulberry’s wild side.

Belted shaggy gilets and coats cinched in waistlines alongside black wide legged leather trousers and quilted bombers. Soft leather skirts in caramel hues had us mentally putting our names down on the waiting list… not forgetting a sudden palette of unmissable bright orange with tweed effect bags featuring chain handles. And yes ladies, tobacco is the new tan!

Wooden heeled wedge boots with lace ups, tasselled wedges and metallic handbags gave the appropriate edge to the wild style looks but were softened with beautiful watercolour inspired printed dresses, sequins and lace detailing.

It was only fitting that Lana del Ray attended the show having had the new ‘it bag’ of the season named after her. What better way to receive recognition than from an international luxury brand such as Mulberry!

We all know and love the Alexa bag (named after Alexa Chung) which became a seasonal best seller, so don’t be surprised to see these ‘Del Ray’ beauties fly off the shelves as soon as they hit stores in May (featured left).

Mulberry said ”Lana has mastered the style of Old Hollywood, mixing it with an edgy sense of fun. This contrast appeals to us: we love mixing eclectic references with classic details in the way that Lana does. The Del Rey bag is infused with this idea, combined with the easy sensibility and English common-sense practicality of our heritage icons.”

Unpredictable and quirky, yet again Mulberry’s Emma Hill has certainly shocked even the most fashion forward of us all. Let’s not forget the signature appearance of a real dog also making its way down the catwalk with one of the models…

Mulberry we LOVE you! x
